I started Cedar & Sage because I know firsthand what it feels like to be on the other side of the table—overlooked and dismissed. When I was in college, working part-time as a bartender, retirement planning wasn’t something I thought much about. I didn’t have a lot to invest, but what I did have mattered to me.When I met with an advisor, I expected guidance. Instead, he directed every word of the conversation to my husband, as if I wasn’t even in the room. My voice wasn’t invited, and no real planning took place. He took my money, left it untouched for years, and I had no idea what was—or wasn’t—being done with it.It wasn’t until I became an advisor myself that I realized just how inappropriate and damaging that experience was. And I knew I wanted to build something different.
